Project Overview
The Oyo State Government, through the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA),
is implementing the Ijaiye Agribusiness Industrial Hub (AIH) and the Eruwa Agricultural
Transformation Centre (ATC) under the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ)
Programme with financial support from the African Development Bank (AfDB). The projects are
designed to transform agriculture from predominantly primary production to a competitive, market
oriented and industrialized sector by promoting agro-processing, value addition, private sector
investment and sustainable rural development.
The Ijaiye AIH, located at Atan in Akinyele Local Government Area, is planned as an integrated
agro-industrial hub comprising agro-processing industries, logistics and warehousing facilities,
technology incubation centres, renewable energy infrastructure, and other supporting services
required to strengthen agricultural value chains. The Eruwa ATC, situated in Ibarapa East Local
Government Area, will function as a production, aggregation, processing, storage and capacity
building centre, providing smallholder farmers and agribusinesses with improved access to markets,
technology and extension services. Together, both facilities represent complementary investments
that integrate agricultural production, processing, storage, marketing and value addition to enhance
agricultural competitiveness across Oyo State.
The projects are expected to generate significant socio-economic benefits through increased
agricultural productivity, improved market access, reduced post-harvest losses, enhanced food
security, employment generation, private sector participation and inclusive economic growth. The
projects will also promote climate-smart agricultural practices while ensuring that environmental and
social risks are effectively managed in accordance with national legislation and the African
Development Bank’s Integrated Safeguards System (ISS).
